Botox and Xeomin Treatment

Roswell and Alpharetta aesthetic medicine expert doctor, Naima Cheema MD, offers botulinum toxin therapies using products like Botox and Xeomin to help treat signs of aging , for example, forehead lines, glabellar lines, crow’s feet, and bunny lines.

BOTOX

What is Botox?

Botox is one of the most common aesthetic procedures performed today. Botox helps treat forehead lines, glabellar lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, gummy smile and much more. Botox relaxes the underlying muscles by inhibiting the secretion of acetylcholine, a chemical required for muscle contraction. Dr. Naima Cheema is an advanced botox injector in Roswell and Alpharetta area. She has extensive experience in the use of botox for the treatment of various aesthetic and medical conditions including hyperhidrosis, TMJ disorder, and chronic headaches. In today’s world, preventive botox is becoming more popular. Preventive botox treatment is an effective way to avert lines and wrinkles from getting etched in the skin.

What are the side effects of Botox treatment?

The side effects of botox are typically related to the local injection of medicine. There may be slight discomfort and rarely bruising associated with needle entering the skin. A rare side effect is eye lid droop that is apparent one to two weeks after the treatment and may last up to four weeks post-treatment. In case of this complication, a medication may be prescribed to help alleviate the symptoms. There are no reports of permanent side effects from Botox use.

Is Botox treatment painful?

The Botox is injected into the skin with a series of microneedle injections. There may be a brief period of discomfort associated with the needle entering the skin. We provide ice packs during Botox treatment to minimize the pain and bruising.

When will I notice the difference and how long does it last?

The full effects of Botox are usually visible five to seven days after the treatment. These results last about four to six months. Patients can choose maintenance botox treatments. The interval between re-treatments may increase with ongoing maintenance botox treatments.

What can I expect during the treatment?

Botox cosmetic treatment is a safe procedure with no permanent side effects. You will be evaluated in detail by Dr. Naima Cheema. The Botox treatment itself takes fifteen minutes. There is no recovery time with Botox cosmetic treatment. You may experience mild discomfort during Botox injection as the needle enters the skin. We will suggest using ice packs during the Botox treatment to reduce pain and swelling associated with the injection. We usually combine Botox treatment with Volumizers and PRP to achieve better results. Please, feel free to ask any questions you may have during your consultation. XEOMIN

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is a Neurotoxin Type A similar to Botox. Our state of the art procedure utilizes Xeomin for the nonsurgical correction of fine lines and wrinkles that appear as a result of hyperactivity of the underlying muscles, for example, frown lines, glabellar lines, crow’s feet, and bunny lines. Xeomin's revolutionary role is also in the contouring of the face by relaxing the related muscles, for example, it helps elevate the tip of nose, shape eyebrows and contour the square or round shape of the face into the harmonious oval shape.

How is Xeomin different from Botox?

Xeomin is the first of new generation of Botox type products to be released and has distinctive advantages. It is derived from the exact same strain of Clostridium Botulinum as Botox, but it is free of complexing proteins. This results in the smaller molecule, longer lasting results, and fewer complications. Some patients develop tolerance to Botox after a few years due to antibody formation. There are no reports of development of tolerance and antibody formation with Xeomin due to the elimination of accessory proteins. Hence, it is right to say the Xeomin is the purified version of Botox.

What is Xeomin used for?

Xeomin is used to successfully eliminate the dynamic wrinkles and lines of expression. For the static wrinkles already etched in the skin, dermal fillers are a better option. We usually combine Xeomin treatment with Volumizers and PRP to achieve better results.

Are there any side effects from Xeomin?

Xeomin is administered as series of injections with a very small needle to the desired area of face and body. This may cause mild discomfort from the needle entering the skin and bruising on rare occasions. We usually use numbing cream to minimize the discomfort associated with injection. A rare side effect is eye lid droop that is apparent one to two weeks after the treatment and may last up to four weeks post-treatment. In case of this complication, a medication may be prescribed to help alleviate the symptoms. There are no reports of permanent side effects from Xeomin.

When will I notice the difference and how long does it last?

The effects of Xeomin are not apparent for five to seven days after the treatment. The effects usually last about three to six months depending on the body’s ability to metabolise medication. The interval between re-treatments may increase with ongoing maintenance treatment.

What can I expect during and after Xeomin Treatment?

Xeomin cosmetic treatment is a safe procedure with no permanent side effects. You will be evaluated in detail by Dr. Naima Cheema. The treatment itself takes fifteen minutes. There is no recovery time with Xeomin cosmetic treatment. You may experience mild discomfort during injection as the needle enters the skin. We will suggest using ice packs during the treatment to reduce discomfort and swelling after the injection. The most common side effect is bruising, but it is uncommon, minimal and temporary.

I have previously received Botox. Can I use Xeomin, how much Xeomin will I need?

Yes, if you have previously used Botox you can safely start using Xeomin. You will need the same dose of Xeomin as Botox to get the similar results. The conversion from Botox to Xeomin is one to one Please, feel free to ask any questions you may have during your consultation.
